Mai & Kenji Hodgson, Les Aussigouins, 2018
Having plied their trade in Canada, Japan and extensively working with Mark Angeli, Mai & Kenji have vineyards on classic Anjou terroir, that is shale and schiste. They have around 4 hectares now, built up over the last ten years since they started. The vineyards are worked with care and attention to detail, they pick at full maturity but avoid botrytis or any sweeter flavours – unless they are intending to make their ultra-rare sweet wines!
These are serious white wines with a classical tint. Although super-enjoyable, they deserve time and space to breathe and consider over hours of good conversation. Remarkable elegance and a moreish salinity.
100% Chenin on Schist terroir in Montbenault (right next to Richard Leroy’s parcels). 40 year old vines, aged on lees in barrel.
We offer same day and next day delivery service Monday to Sunday. Same day delivery is available with orders received before 3pm. Next day delivery available with the option of morning or evening time slots.
We also offer an overnight courier service to England, Wales and Scotland (except Hebrides & Islands) three times a week with deliveries scheduled every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Cut off is 48 hours before.
