Kashmere Stage Band, Texas Thunder Soul 1968-1974 LP Now Again Records

Now-Again records – Eothen Alapatt aka ‘Egon’ founded the record label in 2002 in Los Angeles whilst running the infamous Stones Throw label simultaneously.

He focuses on reissues of music from the 1950’s to the present day  and the label represents a wealth of discographies that range from Nigerian fuzz-funk to Swedish hard rock to Brasilian psychedelia to the jazz, funk, soul and disco that Egon is known for. These records are always on rotation at the restaurant.

Whenever he is in town, usually with his partner in crime, Madlib, they always find a moment to visit us on Columbia Road. Like his record label, his knowledge of wine and food runs deep. It’s always a good evening when they drop in and we are really proud to be able to offer a selection for sale here.

Kashmere Stage Band

Led by Kashmere High School music teacher/band director Conrad O. Johnson, this interchangeable group gained national attention during the seventies for winning high school band competitions all over the country. Considered unbeatable by many, the band released eight albums during that same period featuring numerous different members. The group performed a mixture of originals and classic funk/soul/jazz covers like “Shaft,” “SuperBad,” “Ain’t No Sunshine,” “Super Strut,” and “Take Five.”

The expanded, deluxe edition of the critically acclaimed Texas Thunder Soul 1968- 1974. Rare, heavy soul, funk and jazz recorded by the high school heavyweights Kashmere Stage Band.
