Bianco G, Vino di Anna, 2019


Predominantly made from old bush vine Grecanico, this wine is the third vintage they’ve made with these 80 year old vines from one of the highest points (800-1100m Above sea level) of north facing Etna slopes.

Half the Grecanico was macerated for one week on skins, being foot trodden several times.  The rest of the fruit was whole bunch pressed together with some Carricante from Milo and the small quantity of grapes harvested from their other vineyard in Contrada Nave (NW Etna).  Fermentation started spontaneously in a 20hl old, wooden cask with the fermenting must from the macerated Grecanico being added to fill the cask.  The temperature was not controlled.  The wine underwent malolactic fermentation and it was left on light lees for 7 months prior to bottling, without fining or filtering.

Mid straw in colour, this wine has lively citrus aromas of grapefruit, coupled with white and yellow peach. It is complex, full of flavour and has an underlying minerality.
